Nosotros has its Boulderthon assignments.
Andrey Kutchma, Edwin Siuda, Nemo Cionelo and Jan Thewes run the half marathon, which goes off at 7:00 a.m. Sunday with the marathon. Amilia Wise and Daniel Carr run the Heart to Heart 5K at 7:45. Allison Beasley, Gretchen Slattum and Haley Wood run the 10K later the same morning. Coach Shane Cleveland will be on Pearl Street for all of it.
In the elite field
The four in the half are the club’s entrants in Boulderthon’s elite field, which is invitation-only and carries a published standard of 1:10. Their best marks come off four different events. Kutchma has run 4:00.91 for 1500m at 4,610 feet, and Siuda 3:51 over the same distance at Bryan Clay. Cionelo has gone 29:46.60 for 10,000m. Thewes has run 14:13.51 for 5000m, worth about 13:59 converted to sea level.
That race was won in 1:06:32 last year, and it pays $2,000, $1,200 and $800 to the top three men and women. Olympic marathon bronze medalist Molly Seidel was second in the women’s half in 1:17:09.
Wise and Carr race the 5K outside the elite field. The 10K is not part of the elite program at all.
The course starts at 19th and Pearl and finishes on the Pearl Street Mall at 5,335 feet. For the crew coming down from Gunnison (7,700 feet), it’s basically sea level.
Fuel and incentives
Hammer Nutrition is fueling the squad through the weekend. Ultra K has put money behind top-three finishes. In the half, that sits on top of a purse the race is already paying.
